Abstract:

The regular, chemical and pharmacological research of plants of Kazakhstan’s flora is carried out at the International Research and Production Holding “Phytochemistry”. Over 6000 species of plants are numbered. Among them 667 are endemic. Thus, the structures of over 2000 molecules of natural compounds are isolated and determined from over 450 species of plants. Over 1000 new derivatives are synthesized. Their biological activity is defined. The correlation of “structure-activity” is studied. The effective and ecologically safe methods of the processing of raw material with yield for practically valuable preparations are developed.

The plantsof Asteraceae family are taken an interest as the potential sources of new biologically active sesquiterpene lactones.

The original antitumor preparation “Arglabin”, antiatherosclerotic and hypolipidemic drug “Aterolid”, antiparasitic preparation “Sausalin” are developed at holding “Phytochemistry” from raw material of Artemisia glabella Kar. et Kir., Artemisia leucodes Shrenk., Saussurea salsa (Pall.) Spreng. Their activesubstances are sesquiterpene lactones.

The effective and ecologically safe technologies of the obtaining of these phytopreparations according to the international GMP standards are developed. Their manufacture is introduced with the supercritical extraction of raw material. The liquefied carbonic gas, the centrifugal partition chromatography and high-performance liquid chromatography are used.
